Aspiring Nature

Aspiring Nature is mentioned in a review of 'DG15 – 40 years of contemporary glass in Denmark' on magasinetkunst.dk by Jeanette Melin

“The first piece that catches my eye is Aspiring Nature by Monette Larsen from 2014. This piece looks like beautiful green leaves that grows up the exhibition wall. At once simple and advanced it occupies the wall in front of me and my thoughts revolve around the place I feel most comfortable: the forest with its tall trees and different rhythm and life. The leaves are so fine and fragile. There are many of them and they appear almost organic with their different curvatures. Some are transparent and others not. This diversity creates dynamism and life. I dwell on the work for a while and move expectantly on.”

Read about the finalists on carefullycurateduk:

"The delicate beauty of Monette Larsen’s Aspiring Nature, certainly captures people’s attention. The series of filigree glass installations made of small glass spheres fused together in the kiln to create larger organic structures inspired by corals. Shimmering in the light, the delicate tonal turquoises and blues transport you to a marine landscape, the glass a metaphor for the fragility of marine eco-systems, where coral reefs are necessary to an estimated 25 per cent of all marine life."
